Lloyd Hollenberg
Lloyd Hollenberg is an ARC Laureate Fellow and the Deputy Director of the Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology. He completed his PhD in theoretical particle physics the University of Melbourne in 1989 after which he was awarded a JSPS Fellowship at the KEK accelerator laboratory in Tsukuba, Japan. After his postdoctoral period he returned to the University of Melbourne where he is now a Professor in the School of Physics. He is a well-known proponent of quantum technology, with broad interests including quantum computers, quantum communication and the development of quantum sensing techniques crossing over into the nano-bio realm. Lloyd was the recipient of the Australian Institute of Physics 2012 Walter Boas medal for Excellence in Physics Research, and the 2013 Victoria Prize for Science and Innovation (Physical Sciences), and he led the team that was awarded the 2013 Eureka Prize for Interdisciplinary Scientific Research.
